Casa Asmara was never meant to be just a place to stay.
Ciao, sono Matej!
What started as a personal connection to Sicily slowly became a living project shaped by local life, architecture, creativity and the people around it. Hidden in the historic streets of Scicli, a UNESCO-listed town in the south of Sicily, Casa Asmara was created with respect for the original character of the spaces and the rhythm of everyday Sicilian life.
I’m Matěj, originally from the Czech Republic, and Casa Asmara grew naturally from my love for places that feel real. Places with history, imperfections, stories and a strong sense of belonging. Over time, what began as a home slowly evolved into something much bigger.
Today, Casa Asmara lives somewhere between hospitality, culture and creative projects. Alongside curated stays, it has become a space for art residencies, collaborations, intimate gatherings and experiences that connect people with Sicily beyond the typical tourist perspective.
Hosting has become one of the most rewarding parts of the journey. Not only sharing a home, but also sharing the Sicily I have come to know through local friendships, hidden places and everyday life. From tailored recommendations and local tips to carefully curated experiences, Casa Asmara is built around a more personal way of travelling and connecting with the island.
At its core, Casa Asmara is about slowing down. Opening the door in the morning and greeting neighbours. Listening to conversations from the alley. Drinking coffee without rushing. Spending long evenings on the terrace. Experiencing Sicily not as a visitor, but for a moment, as part of it.
More than anything, Casa Asmara is an invitation to reconnect with simplicity, local life and the beauty of being present.
Welcome home.
Come, come!
